On June 1, the Third Belt & Road Forum was successfully held in Nanjing International Expo Convention Center. Guests from home and abroad gathered at the venue, focusing on industrial cooperation and helping industry enterprises “going out”.
In order to actively promote the high-quality development of the “Belt and Road” initiative and help enterprises to "go out", China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association (hereinafter referred to as CCPA) organized the Third Belt & Road Forum in the same period of the industry conference. The forum was held under the theme of " Promote High-Quality Development of Co-Building 'Belt and Road' with Industrial Cooperation", aiming to providing the industry with a communication platform for external exchanges, collision of ideas and business negotiations, and discussing the new journey of building high-quality development of the industry.

Xu Yongmo, Honorary President of CCPA, delivered a speech for the forum. Mr. Xu welcomed the industry experts from Brazil, Singapore and the United Kingdom who were invited to participate in the forum. He pointed out that the "Belt and Road" initiative has changed from a concept to a reality over the past ten years, which has become a bridge for promoting global common development.

The forum was divided into the first half of “Brazilian Special Session” and the second half of "Singapore Special Session", focusing on the two important international markets of Brazil and Singapore respectively. Wang Zhaojia, Vice President of CCPA, delivered a keynote report entitled "Current Status & Development Trend of China's Concrete and Cement-based Products Industry". He analyzed the current situation and development trend of China's concrete and cement-based products industry with detailed data and case presentations, focusing on the industry's achievements in technological innovation, green environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing and international development. He also introduced the support of national policies for the development of the industry and emphasized the international cooperation opportunities under the "Belt and Road" initiative. At the same time, the future development direction of the industry, including digital transformation, green production and high-end product development, was put forward, showing the determination and potential of the industry to move towards high-quality development.

Ricardo Humberto Moschetti gave a fascinating presentation titled “The Cement Industry in the Civil Construction Market in Brazil; A View of the Present and Future Brazilian Market” to the delegates. He gave an in-depth analysis of the current development of the cement industry, including key companies, ongoing projects, business development plans, etc. In 2023, Brazil's cement production is 62 million tons. Faced with the current housing shortage, the Brazilian government would continue to increase investment in civil construction and infrastructure construction in the next three years.

In the “Dialogue” session, Rodrigo Muller, head of the Brazilian Delegation, firstly made a brief introduction of the delegation members and the enterprises they represented. He outlined that the Brazilian group was invited and assisted by CCPA to inspect the member enterprises of the association and visit the China Concrete Exhibition, for which they expressed their sincere gratitude to the association. Mr. Muller especially introduced that Brazil has a land area of nearly 8.51 million square kilometers and a population of more than 200 million people, with a degree of market development equivalent to that of China 20 years ago, which has a great demand for infrastructure construction.

In his report titled " Innovative Development of Singapore's Construction Industry", Tao Nengfu mentioned that Singapore's construction market contributes significantly to the economy, accounting for 6% of GDP. However, the market is facing challenges such as labor shortages, rising material costs and stringent government regulations. The construction industry is in dire need of transformation to address these challenges and capitalize on growth opportunities. Market trends pointing towards sustainability and technological advancements. Going forward, Singapore's construction market will be transformed into a technology-driven and sustainable-practices industry that fosters an ecosystem of collaboration and innovation through smart cities, digitization, precast and modular buildings, the use of sustainable materials, and the government's commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Ken Lee analyzes the market trends and subsequent developments in Singapore's construction market, including building construction and infrastructure development, in his report titled Market Trends for Construction Industry (including both building construction and infrastructure development) in Singapore. Demand for construction in Singapore has grown steadily in recent years and several projects have received media attention and coverage.
It is expected to remain between S$32 billion and S$38 billion in 2024, with construction demand focusing on public and private housing development, MRT line construction, building redevelopment, and infrastructure development. The report forecasts an average annual demand of S$31 billion to S$38 billion from 2025 to 2028, with construction output expected to expand further to S$34 billion to S$37 billion in 2024, and demand for construction materials such as ready-mixed concrete and precast concrete to continue to rise, although the demand for reinforcing steel may be slightly lower. He expects that the public sector in Singapore will release a large number of tenders in the mid-2024 phase, and it is also looking forward to further cooperation with Chinese companies at that time.
