On the morning of September 11, 2020, Dong Jifeng, assistant to the general manager of Northern International Cooperation Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Northern International") and general manager of the International Engineering Technology Research Center, visited China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association.Executive President Xu Yongmo and Dong Jifeng had a good conversation. Secretary-General Zeng Qingdong, Deputy Secretary-General Gao Zhi, Director of Science and Technology Service Department Dr. Chen Yu, Assistant General Manager Feng Shuo of the International Engineering Technology Research Center of Northern International and Project Manager Yin Jie attended the symposium.

Firstly, General Manager Dong jifeng introduced the situation of Northern International. North International Cooperation Co., Ltd. is a listed company controlled by China North Industries Corporation and an important international engineering management company under the national "Belt & Road" initiative. The company is mainly engaged in international economic and technical cooperation business such as rail transit, power engineering, petroleum and mineral facilities construction, industrial agriculture, municipal housing construction, and real estate development. The company focuses on the operation of the international market, has established a global marketing network for many years, cultivated strong international operation capabilities and investment and financing capabilities, and has excellent global resource allocation capabilities and project management capabilities. Since 1995, NORINCO International has successively carried out a number of businesses including railways, highways, subways, hydroelectric power stations, wind power stations, thermal power stations, and petroleum in Iran, Pakistan, Laos, Croatia, Bangladesh and many countries in Africa. Subsequently, General Manager Dong Jifeng introduced in detail the 1320MW supercritical gas-fired power plant project in Boduakali, Bangladesh. The project is the largest coal-fired power station in Bangladesh, with a total investment of approximately US$2.4 billion. It is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2023. After completion, it will generate approximately 6 million tons of fly ash and other solid waste every year. General Manager Dong Jifeng said that Bangladesh has a small country with a relatively high population density and a shortage of raw materials for building materials. A large amount of raw materials such as cement clinker and aggregate need to be imported. At present, Bangladesh has a stable political situation and a good international environment. A grand industrial park plan has been carried out. In the next few years, a large number of infrastructure and construction projects will be launched, and the demand for building materials is very strong. Northern International hopes to use the platform of China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association to cooperate with domestic first-class consulting, design and enterprises to realize the comprehensive utilization of high value-added resources of solid waste in the local building materials market.

Executive President Xu welcomed the visit of General Manager Dong Jifeng and his entourage. He first inquired about Bangladesh's national policies, building materials industry, market demand, transportation and logistics where the project is located, and learned about the specific conditions of Bangladesh's coal-fired power stations. He said that the construction of coal-fired power stations often requires the construction of a large number of supporting facilities, and good experience in China. Research should be conducted in terms of national policies, industrial planning, local material performance, market demand, and competition, and pre-feasibility studies should be done with the advanced concepts of circular economy industrial parks, and environmental protection, emission reduction, building energy conservation, and industrial chain upstream and downstream high-efficiency supporting facilities are planned to realize the comprehensive utilization of low-cost, high value-added and differentiated resources of fly ash and other solid waste. Executive President Xu then introduced the progress made by the association in carrying out the “Belt & Road” work. He said that the association will launch the “Belt & Road” recommended catalog for the concrete and cement-based products industry this year, connect with Chinese embassies, large central enterprises, and state-owned enterprises, Integrate industry resources, recommend new products, new technologies, and new equipment to provide the most high-quality supporting services in the industry for the vast number of "Belt & Road" companies such as Northern International, and use the association as a platform to lead the industry’s leading companies to go out and promote international development of the industry. The two parties stated that in the future, Northern International and China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association should make full use of their respective advantages, open up and cooperate for the smooth advancement of the "Belt & Road" project.
