At 12:30 p.m. on November 27, 2023, at the construction site of the main pylon pier No. 3 of Chongming-Qidong Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge in the North Branch of Yangtze River, with the last truck of concrete injected into the F4 compartment of the cofferdam of the main pylon pier, marking the completion of five times backing over with concrete underwater of the first main pylon pier of Chongming-Qidong Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge, the world's largest span double-tower double-cable plane road-rail dual purpose ballastless track cable-stayed bridge, which is constructed and managed by Shanghai Hangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line Co., Ltd. and constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. The foundation construction of the bridge has achieved stage-by-stage progress.

Chongming-Qidong Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge is the controlling node project of Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-speed Railway, with a total length of 4.09 kilometers, across the northern branch channel of the Yangtze River estuary. Its structure is a double-deck arrangement of dual-purpose bridge, the upper layer is a first-class highway with two-way 6-lane and maximum speed of 100 km/h speed; the lower layer is a double-lane high-speed railroad with the maximum speed of 350 km/h and a double-lane intercity railroad with the maximum speed of 250 km/h. The bridge is divided into the main navigable bridge, non-navigable bridge, combined rail and road approach bridge on the north and south shores, and single railroad approach bridge on the north and south shores; among them, the main navigable bridge is a double-tower double-cable plane cable-stayed bridge with steel truss composite beam, which is the world's largest span double-tower double-cable plane road-rail dual purpose ballastless track cable-stayed bridge.
