The 6thJinggangshan Forum was hosted by China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association (CCPA) in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province in June 29th, 2019. The forum was organized as a platform to communicate the key technology in support of high quality development of concrete sector, with “high quality development and advanced key technology” as the main theme. The forum made detailed discussions over various topics, including ultra-high performance concrete, circular economy, green production of concrete, concrete raw materials, concrete mix design, advanced producing technology and quality control. About 400 people participated the forum.
Jiang Shangwen, the Party secretary and Chairman of Jiangxi Building Material Group Co., Ltd gave a welcome speech. He said it had been 6 years since the first Jinggangshan Forum. With the faith that “from a tiny spark may burst a mighty flame”, the form has grown into an influential annual conference and made its way to promote the development and application of new technology, new products and new equipment. The forum has contributed to the innovative technology development, upgrade and transition of the industry. It is a great achievement that the forum has drawn attractions from people in the concrete sector.
Xu Yongmo, the executive president of CCPA gave a keynote speech of “green renewal of building materials”, the concept he has emphasized under various occasions. He said the policy solely to promote utilization of solid wastes was not enough. While the environment should be protected from the “source” of wastes, buildings should be designed with the ideology that “zero waste” to be produced. “Zero waste” building is a big challenge for construction industry, which allows the building to be demolished, yet requires building materials should be renewed in sustainable ways at demolition, which should be specifically considered at the early phases of buildings, such as design and construction phases. Standardized concrete elements should be dismantled and utilized again. Concrete elements which are not standard or cannot be utilized again should be recycled in highly valuable ways.
To fulfill the ideology of “green renewal of building materials” requires building design to follow the ideology of green development and circular economy. The life circle of buildings is not merely design, material procurement, construction and maintenance. It should also include the dismantle process to minimize production of solid wastes. Therefore, the ideology of green building should not be merely green design, green construction, green material procurement and green maintenance; it should also include the ideology of green renewal of building materials.
