The project of “Development and application of new interface sealing technology for prefabricated and assembled comprehensive pipe gallery” by Sichuan Just Rubber Co., Ltd won the third prize of 2020 CCPA Concrete Science and Technology Award (Technology Advancement).
Prefabricated pipe gallery is a new kind of pipe gallery. The main structural components are produced in the prefabricated concrete component factory, and are hoisted and assembled by large-scale mechanization on the project site. The prefabricated pipe gallery is buried underground where is with open water and humidity for a long time, so the requirement of water resistance and sealing performance is quite high. The factors of water resistance and sealing performance are: the smoothness of the cushion, the size of the socket, the hoisting technology, the waterproof material and the anti-aging property of the rubber.
The project carries out technological innovation in improving the waterproof and sealing performance, rubber elasticity and rubber service life of the prefabricated pipe gallery. Through innovative research on the interface sealing technology and socket waterproof structure of the prefabricated pipe gallery, a new sealing rubber material with high water absorption and high elasticity is developed by adopting the unique formula of water swelling rubber material. This set of techonologies is applied to the waterproof sealing at the interface of prefabricated pipe gallery, breaks through a number of technical bottlenecks and form relevant industry standards.

Application cases
The technologies of this project has been applied to a number of projects in Qingdao, create a flexible structural interface seal for prefabricated pipe gallery, and promote the technological upgrading and product quality of manufacturers of prefabricated pipe gallery interface sealing products. The project provides technical support for the quality of pipeline construction, reduces the cost of pipeline engineering, saves the loss of water resources in the input process, and realizes energy conservation and emission reduction in the application process
